Our History

RSM Company (formerly Roumm’s Scrap Materials) is the oldest family-owned, non-farming business in Indiana County.

Now in its third generation of ownership, Dennis Roumm took over the reins of operation from his father Milton in 2000. With a horse-drawn wagon, David Roumm started the business in 1912, going to the area mines to collect scrap. The company was originally located at 1291 Philadelphia Street.

Providing you with reliable, personal service

In 1937, Milton and his brother Arthur (now deceased) became owners and moved the business in 1947 to its current location at 527 South 13th Street. Dennis and his brother-in-law Michael Mundis joined Milton in 1975, expanding the structural steel warehouse to supply steel to the mines, power plants, natural gas, and construction industries.

Along with this expansion, the official name was shortened to RSM Company. Michael left the business in 1999 and Dennis increased the operations - doubling revenues and the labor force to better serve an increasing customer base.

Because RSM Company takes pride in putting customer service first, a homeowner with a pound of scrap or a large company with a truckload of material gets equal attention. The steel service center provides products for the do-it-yourselfer and the industrial business.
